Mumbai City FC beat ATK Mohun Bagan to solidify their place in the top of the table

XtraTime Web Desk – Mumbai City FC’s attack vs ATK Mohun Bagan’s defence was the USP of the match. In the end, Mumbai City had the last laugh as they beat the Mariners and now has a 5 point lead in the top of the table.

Mumbai started the game just how they do. Offensive football right from the side kept ATK Mohun Bagan defence active. Their formation of 5-4-1 without the ball helped them largely to defend against Mumbai City FC. Mumbai could’ve easily gone 1-0 ahead but Arindam saved brilliantly and with some luck, ATK Mohun Bagan survived that. Mumbai City were all over ATK Mohun Bagan in the first half. The boys in Green and Meroon got a couple of chance but couldn’t make anything out of it. The first half ended 0-0 but the boys in yellow were in a much better place.

ATK Mohun Bagan made 2 changes in the start of the second half. Prabir Das and Pronoy Halder came on and after that ATK Mohun Bagan looked better. Edu Garcia missed a sitter in the 58th minute. In a 1v1 situation, Garcia hit the bar. Mumbai finally scored the goal in the 69th minute as Ogbeche Bartholomew’s brilliant strike helped Mumbai get the goal. More than the goal it was Hugo Boumous brilliance which helped Mumbai get that goal.

Arindam was having a good game. He denied Adam Le Fondre brilliantly and kept ATK Mohun Bagan in the game. The forwards however couldn’t do it for the Mariners. Mumbai’s defence was rock solid which they couldn’t break. Thus, Mumbai City FC beat ATK Mohun Bagan by 1-0.

Gaurs are now 5 points clear in the top of the table. They have 25 points after 10 games while are second placed team, ATK Mohun Bagan has 20 points from 10 games, 5 points behind the league leaders.
