Mumbai City FC are back on winning ways, beat Kerala Blasters 2-1

XtraTime Web Desk – Mumbai City FC are back on winning ways as beat Kerala Blasters after going down in the first half.

Mumbai started the match pretty strong. Reynier Fernandez came close to score in the 4th minute of the match but Blasters’ keeper denied the chance. They once again came close in the 11th minute when Le Fondre came close but his shot just missed the target and Mumbai once again failed to take an early lead.

Kerala though picked up the goal in the 27th. Vicente Gomez put Kerala ahead with his header and Kerala picked up an important lead. They once again had another opportunity in the 29th minute. Jordan Murray’s shot was brilliantly saved by Amrinder Singh and Kerala looked strong as they finished the first half with the lead.

Second half was different for Mumbai City. They started the half pretty strong. Bipin Singh equalised for Mumbai just after the break. Mumbai City scored their second goal from a penalty as Adam Le Fondre put them ahead from the spot-kick.

Before Mumbai’s second goal, Kerala was close to score their second. Rahul KP’s header was brilliantly denied by Amrinder.

Post that, Mumbai kept the possession and won the match by 2-1. They now have 33 points from 15 matches and are sitting at the top of the table. Kerala are at 9th position with 15 points from 16 games.
