File Pic.[/caption] Internet Desk: The BCCI President, Mr. Anurag Thakur, on Sunday nominated Mr. Ajay Shirke as the Hony. Secretary of the BCCI as per the rules to fill up the vacancy created by his resignation. Mr Ajay Shirke, former Hony. Treasurer will serve as the Honorary Secretary of the BCCI. Mr Shirke, in the past, has been a member of the IPL Governing Council and several BCCI committees besides holding the post of Vice-Chairman, National Cricket Academy. Mr. Ajay Shirke will represent the BCCI at the CEC meetings of the International Cricket Council (ICC). Mr. Shirke's association with Maharashtra Cricket started in 2003 and he assumed the office of President MCA in 2005. He is credited with spreading the reach of cricket to faraway areas like Dhulia, Nashik, Latur and Ratnagiri. With 21 districts under MCA’s wing, cricket is no more limited to Pune, which traditionally was the hub of all activities. Importantly, Mr Shirke was instrumental in creating a modern cricket stadium in Pune, which has recently been granted test status. During his term as Treasurer BCCI (2012-13), Mr Shirke brought transparency to the accounting and finance wings and initiated a series of reforms specially related to short-term fund management. Mr Shirke has vast business interests, mainly in engineering and specialty electronics. Mr. Rahul Johri and Mr. Santosh Rangnekar were introduced to the members of the Board as the new CEO and CFO, respectively. It was decided that all state associations hosting Test matches should provide for minimum 10 per cent of their respective capacity as complimentary tickets for school children and special abled. The Board discussed the need for all international venues to adopt energy and water conservation and the board will centrally prepare a proposal for installation of rain water harvesting, sewerage water treatment plants, solar panels and use of LEDs. It was proposed to set-up a corpus of INR 100 Crores towards the implementation of these initiatives. The Committee discussed the proposal to support cricketing activities of the physically handicapped, deaf and dumb and visually impaired cricketers. It was proposed to set-up a corpus of INR 5 Crores towards this initiative for next five years. The Committee discussed the need for all member associations of the BCCI to have their own websites and social media presence within the next six months. The Board will provide support to implement this initiative. The Board will advertise for the post of the Head Coach and Assistant Coaches of the Indian National Cricket Team (Men). The members congratulated Mr. Shashank Manohar on his election as the independent Chairman of the ICC.
