To control the situation, the Maidan Police had to interfere to settle the matter. However at last the tickets were given to the crowd. Mohun Bagan were gifted 500 match tickets by the FIFA, so the club keeping a mere number of tickets for their members decided to give out the rest of the tickets to the fans with the normal price of Rs. 100. Bagan Secretary Anjan Mitra said, "despite the rumours, a huge crowd had gathered so we decided to give away the tickets." Another Bagan official Debasish Dutta said, "the club has no right to give away the tickets but owing to the huge anxious crowd that was waiting, we decided to give away the tickets."
