Mohammedan Sporting gets a new investor ahead of the new season
Sabyasachi Bagchi: Great news coming for all the Mohammedan Sporting Club fans as they get a new investor ahead of the beginning of the new season. As per sources a United Kingdom (UK) based sports management company is tying up with the century old club. There is still no confirmation on how many members from Mohammedan Sporting Club will be there in the Board of Directors, but the club will hold 51% of the shares and the investor will hold remaining 49% of it. It's a huge news for Kolkata football as the other two Kolkata giants Mohun Bagan and East Bengal has given most of their shares to their investors, on the other hand Mohammedan isn't doing it. If the sources are to be believed then a joint press conference will take place on September 20 or 21 to make this official.
The sports management company which is investing on Mohammedan Sporting Club has an office in Delhi and the MDS officials have talked with the company through that office. The new company will help Mohammedan Sporting to sign good players for the new season and beside that they will also help the White & Black Brigade to play the Indian Super League soon. The key persons behind this matter are Club Secretary Wasim Akram and Football Secretary Dipendu Biswas who wants bring a corporate culture in the club. They have already prepared draft papers for the agreement and everything will be made official soon.
On the other hand Kalyani Stadium won't organise any Second Division League matches as the organisers didn't find any good hotel for the teams. The tournament comprising of five teams will now take place at the Salt Lake Stadium in KKolkata. In this COVID-19 pandemic situation the AIFF has taken a decision to keep the teams and the support staff at a local youth abode near the stadium, so that they can maintain the Bio-Bubble protocol. It has been learnt that the Second Division League will start from October 8 and all the teams will have to reach Kolkata by September 25.
