Mohammed Siraj, Umran Malik to travel with Indian T20 World Cup squad to Australia

Xtra Time Web Desk: Mohammed Siraj and Umran Malik will to travel to Perth with India T20 World Cup squad on October 6. According to reports, the two pacers will be travelling with the squad as back-up for Jasprit Bumrah who has aggravated his back injury and could miss out the tournament. They will be net bowlers or reserves and will be flown in Down Under at the expense of the BCCI.

The Indian team will train for a week in Perth before travelling to Brisbane for its first warm-up match on October 17. Rohit and co will practice at the bouncy tracks of WACA, so as to get used to the pace and bounce.

BCCI has still not ruled out Jasprit Bumrah completely for upcoming T20 World Cup. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President Sourav Ganguly in an interview to Xtra Time said Bumrah is not ruled out yet for the T20 World Cup.

BCCI release also states, “Bumrah has sustained a back injury and is currently under the supervision of the BCCI medical team.”

It is understood that Bumrah has been diagnosed with a stress reaction. The team management is uncertain whether he can get fit during the marquee event.

BCCI will take a final call on whether Bumrah board the flight for Perth on October 6 and continue his recovery in Australia or continue his rehab at the National Cricket Academy (NCA).
