Xtra Time Web Desk: It appears that Team India pacer Mohammed Siraj, has been rested for the ODI leg of the West Indies tour to manage his workload ahead of the 2023 World Cup. According to a report in Cricinfo, he has left with the players who were part of the test squad. Siraj has been a crucial part of India's pace attack in recent Test matches and was expected to lead the bowling attack in the ODI series as well, but he will now be given rest to avoid burnout. BCCI is yet to officially confirm or send an update.

Siraj had an impressive performance during the Test series against West Indies, picking up seven wickets in the two matches, including a five-for in the first innings of the second Test match at Port of Spain. Prior to the West Indies tour, he also played in the World Test Championship final against Australia, where he took five wickets, including a four-for in the first innings.

In addition to his Test performances, Siraj had an impactful stint in the IPL 2023, representing Royal Challengers Bangalore. He managed to scalp 19 wickets in 14 matches, making him the highest wicket-taker for the team in the tournament, although RCB narrowly missed the playoffs.

Despite his impressive performances in Tests and T20 cricket, Siraj's last ODI appearance was in March 2022 during the home series against Australia. However, since the start of 2022, he has been the highest wicket-taker among Indian bowlers in ODIs, highlighting his potential in the 50-over format.

India has a busy schedule leading up to the home ODI World Cup in October, including the Asia Cup in August-September and a three-match ODI series against Australia in September. Despite Siraj's absence for the ODI leg of the West Indies tour, India has decided not to seek a replacement for him, indicating their confidence in the available pace bowling options.
