Mohammed Shami leads the way as few India cricketers begin training outdoor

Mohammed Shami

XtraTime Web Desk: India speedster Mohammed Shami is leading the way as far as outdoor training is concerned. With the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) showing no urgency to organize a training camp for its contracted cricketers due to the rise in COVID-19 cases across the country, the fast bowler from Amroha is honing his cricket skills at the training facility of his farmhouse.

Few more Indian cricketers have followed Shami, with the likes of Cheteshwar Pujara and Ridhabh Pant doing some knocking outdoor. Pant was seen training with Suresh Raina while Cheteshwar Pujara has been practicing batting at his own academy. Fast bowlers Ishant Sharma and Umesh Yadav too have started training outdoors and the duo was seen doing some physical exercises apart from training indoors.

It has been little over 4 months since Virat and his boys played any competitive cricket match. The last match they played was the first ODI of the three match series against South Africa in March at Dharamsala. The tour got cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Indian captain Virat Kohli alongwith Hardik Pandya, KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma have been doing indoor fitness training at their residences to keep themselves fit for the eventual resumption of cricketing activities in the country. It is to be noted that most cricket playing nations across the globe has either started training camps or is involved in a series. England and West Indies are in the middle of three test match series. Pakistan cricket team has been training in Worcester ahead of their series against England which will follow the West Indies series. New Zealand, Sri Lanka too has resumed outdoor training camps.
