Internet Desk : Black Caps pacer Mitchell McClenaghan  will be missing the remaining matches of the One-Day International series against Pakistan after being struck by an Anwar Ali bouncer that went through the grill of the helmet and hit  to his left eye socket in the first ODI at the Basin Reserve in Wellington on Monday (January 25).The incident took place in the 50th over of the first innings and McClenaghan had to retire on 31 .

A New Zealand Cricket (NZC) spokesman revealed the pacer had sufferd a small fracture above his left eye, as reported in the media . McClenaghan will now undergo a ‘minor cosmetic surgery’ in Auckland on Friday. McClenaghan was hit while trying to hit a bouncer but he missed the ballwhich struck his left eye.

Earlier Somerset and England wicket keeper Craig Kieswetter had to retire for an eye injury. Kieswetter broke his nose and damaged his eye socket and cheekbone.

Grant Elliott and Trent Boult shared seven wickets between them to guide the home side to a 70-run win, defending 280. McClenaghan later thanked everyone on Twitter, “Everything is as good as it can be just a few broken bones. Great win for the boys!”
