XtraTime Web Desk – Sunday was one of the most important day in Premier League this season. Manchester United faced Liverpool at Anfield in a high voltage clash for the top spot in the league while Manchester City hosted Crystal Palace at their yard.

United were strong and bold in their approach. Allison Beckar made two very vital saves to keep Liverpool into the game. More than the save, the attackers should blame themselves. Paul Pogba had a lot of space to shoot but the Frenchman kept it close to Allison while Bruno Fernandes was denied by Allison brilliantly.

Liverpool couldn’t manage to put De Gea into danger. Luke Shaw kept Mohammed Salah quiet and that broke Liverpool’s momentum. Thiago played his part in the midfield but United’s defence was upto the mark. The match ended 0-0 and should be a frustrating night for the red devils. They were very close to score goals but couldn’t take advantage of their situation. They are still at the top of the table with 37 points from 18 games. Liverpool dropped down to fourth as the Merseyside side club has 34 points from 18 games.

The reason Liverpool dropped down to fourth place is because Manchester City beat Crystal Palace to move up in the table. John Stones scored the first in the 26th minute. Gundogan scored their second in the 56th minute. John Stones completed his brace in the 68th minute while Raheem Sterling pinned the last nail in the coffin as he scored in the 88th minute.

A much needed win for City as they moved second in the table with 35 points from 17 games. They have a game in hand unlike Manchester United, Liverpool or Leicester City who are competing hard for the title.

In other matches, Tottenham Hotspurs beat Sheffield United 3-1. Serge Aurier, Harry Kane and Ndombele scored for Spurs as they moved to 5th in the table with 33 points from 18 games.
