This year 2017, can easily be called a year to remember of this decade so far. So many special moments, achievements and of course the belief to march forward with a bigger hope.

#Aizawl FC won their maiden I-League in 2017

Khalid Jamil’s men ended the rat-race with Mohun Bagan on the last day of the season after they achieved a draw at Shillong Lajong FC and became the first team to win the I League from north east despite finishing second to last the season before that. As “Leicester” as it gets, isn’t it?

#India jumped into top 100 of the FIFA World Rankings

Times are changing for football in India, a cricket crazy nation with fan base building up for other sports as well. It became very evident in the past two years which saw a meteoric rise in India’s ranking from 166 in 2015 to 100 in 2017. India broke in the top 100 for the first time since 1993. Yeah!! Good times ahead for the football fans in the country.

#India Hosted the FIFA U17 World Cup

India for the first time in its history successfully hosted the opportunity to host a global FIFA tournament in 2017. India hosted U17 FIFA world cup which was played in the month of October(Oct 6-28). Teams from 24 countries participated in the tournament in which India got a direct entry for being the hosts. England became the champions and it was a huge boost for Indian football and  may be someday soon we will get to watch FIFA World Cup in our very own country.

#Jeakson Singh became the first Indian to score in any FIFA events

Jeakson Singh became the first ever Indian player to have scored in a FIFA competition. A sumptuous header against mighty Colombia gave India the seed of hope which might lead the nation with the belief to play the senior world cup someday.
