Daniel Sturridge and Roberto Firmino registered their names on the scoresheet. Liverpool started the first half with a intent to score. Sturridge drew the first blood. Memphis Depay tripped Clyne just outside the box but the refferee ponted to the spot. Sturridge converted it from the penalty spot although De Gea got a hand to it. Liverpool started to press harder after the goal. Coutinho missed a golden chance to double the lead for the home side.. Sturridge rolled a ball to the Brazilian who just had to tap it. But Coutinho wrongly footed the ball and De Gea managed to keep the ball away from the goal. There could have been more goals but David De Gea's heroic effort under the bar saved the day for the Red Devil's. Liverpool doubles the lead through Roberto Firmino. Carrick's miserable clearance comes to Lallana who passes it to Firmino. Firmino blasted it from close range to seal a victory for the Merseyside. The next leg  is scheduled on 17th March at the Old Trafford. In a other match Borrusia Dortmund blanked Tottenham Hotspur 3-0. Aubameyang opened the Scoring for the German side and Marco Reus scored a brace to give a 3-0 advantage.
