Xtra Time Web Desk: Within 48 hours after being officially announced by FC Barcelona that Lionel Messi will not continue at the Spanish Club, the Argentine superstar footballer is all set to join Paris Saint Germain. The news was confirmed by the brother of the Emir of Qatar that Messi is signing for Paris Saint-Germain.

Khalid bin Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani, who is the brother of the Emir who owns PSG, confirmed in a social media post that the negotiations with Messi were complete and an announcement would soon follow.

“Negotiations are officially concluded, there will be an announcement later #Messi,” Al-Thani posted on Twitter.

Messi was also linked with Manchester City but the Premier League club backed out given the huge money involved in signing the Argentine.  Pep Guardiola ruled Manchester City out of the running to sign Messi in his pre-match press conference on Friday, and it was obvious only the two state-owned clubs would be able to afford to sign Messi.

With Lionel Messi all set to join the French side, it will be a star studded trio in up front along with Neymar Jr. and Kylian Mbappe. The French club has also signed Real Madrid legend Sergio Ramos.
