Ligue 1: Champions PSG shocked by Lens in season opener

XtraTime Web Desk: Champions Paris St Germain suffered a shock 0-1 defeat in the Ligue 1 season opener against RC Lens at the Stade Bollaert-Delelis on Thursday night. PSG goalkeeper Marcin Bulka made a terrible error to hand the hosts a win. Pole Bulka, 20, tried to play the ball out along the floor to a team-mate, but Cameroonian forward Ignatius Gango got there first to fire into the top corner and gave Lens a surprise lead in the 57th minute.

It was the first victory for Lens in Ligue 1 for five years since returning to the top flight. It was also the second consecutive defeat in 18 days for PSG after their 0-1 loss against Bayern Munich in the Champions League in Lisbon.

The visitors were without seven key players due to positive tests for the virus including world-record signing Neymar and France striker Kylian Mbappe. They could only field four players who started their 1-0 defeat by Bayern Munich in last month’s Champions League final.

PSG will take on Marseille in their next Ligue 1 game next Sunday.
