Xtra Time Web Desk:  Former BCCI President and Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly has extended his support to the flood-affected people of Tripura by sending relief materials worth ₹10 lakh. As Tripura grapples with one of the worst floods in three decades, Ganguly, who is also the state's Tourism Brand Ambassador, has stepped in to aid those impacted by the natural disaster.

On Wednesday, Tripura's Tourism Minister, Sushanta Chowdhury, flagged off the relief vehicles from the Geetanjali Guest House premises. The vehicles, filled with essential supplies such as clothes, food, medicines, and other items, were dispatched to various districts of the state.

The recent floods in Tripura have claimed 36 lives, with the state government estimating the total damage at ₹15,000 crore. The small northeastern state, home to around 4 million people, has seen approximately 1.7 million affected in some way by the disaster, with thousands rendered homeless.

Ganguly, who was appointed as Tripura's Tourism Brand Ambassador last year, has previously promoted the state's tourist attractions through advertisements. His latest gesture highlights his humanitarian side, as he comes to the aid of Tripura during this time of crisis.
