Speaking to reporters on August 11th, Ganguly, a father himself, described the incident as "heinous" and called for immediate and effective action from authorities.

The victim, a post-graduate trainee, was found dead in a seminar room on Friday morning, having been allegedly raped and murdered. A suspect, an outsider who had frequently visited the hospital, was arrested the following day.
Ganguly stressed the need for enhanced security measures in medical facilities to prevent such tragedies but also urged against using this isolated incident to cast a shadow over the entire system. He pointed out that while the crime is deeply disturbing, it should not overshadow the overall safety of women in West Bengal and India.
