Despite a stellar start by Rohit Sharma, who scored a quick 50 off 33 balls, India could only manage 230 before being bowled out in 47.5 overs. Sri Lankan bowlers Wanindu Hasaranga (3/58), Charith Asalanka (3/30), and Dunith Wellalage (2/39) put in remarkable performances to restrict the Indian batting lineup. This tie marks just the second time in ODI history that these two teams have finished a match in such a manner.

Rohit Sharma, in the post-match presentation, reflected on the game’s twists and turns, noting the batting performance's inconsistency. "The score was gettable; you had to bat well to get there. We batted well in patches but lacked consistent momentum. We had the upper hand but lost a couple of wickets. With the KL-Axar partnership, we came back. It’s a bit disappointing in the end," he said. Rohit also mentioned that the pitch remained challenging throughout the game, which impacted shot-making.

Earlier, Dunith Wellalage's unbeaten 67* (65) helped Sri Lanka post 230/8 in their allotted 50 overs. He also took key wickets, including that of Rohit Sharma, earning him the Player of the Match award. Despite the strong individual performances and a resilient chase, India fell just short, leading to a tied result.
