Xtra Time Web Desk: Rohit Sharma has stated that he will not change his aggressive batting intent, despite India's 32-run loss to Sri Lanka in the 2nd ODI on August 3 at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Chasing a target of 241, India appeared to be in a strong position with a 97-run opening partnership between Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill, achieved in just 13.3 overs.

However, the partnership was broken by Jeffrey Vandersay, who dismissed Rohit with a switch sweep that was caught by Pathum Nissanka. Rohit, who scored 64 runs off 44 balls, including five fours and four sixes, was the standout performer for India.

Following Rohit's dismissal, Gill also fell to Vandersay in the 18th over, and India's batting lineup collapsed, resulting in the team being bowled out for 208 in 42.2 overs. Vandersay's exceptional performance saw him finish with figures of 10-0-33-6, playing a crucial role in Sri Lanka's victory.

In the post-match presentation, Rohit defended his attacking style of play, stating, "The reason I got 64 runs is because of the way I batted. When I bat like that, there is bound to be risk-taking, and I'm not afraid to do that. Whenever you get out, whether you score 100, 50, or zero, you feel disappointed if you don't get across the line. But that won't change my intent."

Rohit also acknowledged that India did not perform well with the bat, despite Washington Sundar's efforts with the ball, which helped restrict Sri Lanka to 240 for nine. "We didn't play good cricket, that's why we lost the game. We do understand the nature of this surface and the nature of how the game is going to go as well. It gets really, really tough in the middle overs.

So you have to try and capitalize in the powerplay and get as many runs as possible. That's what both openers were trying to do. But we were just not good enough today," Rohit added.

The third and final ODI of the series is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, August 7 in Colombo, giving India an opportunity to draw the series.
