Xtra Time Web Desk: India's flag bearers for the closing ceremony of the Paris Paralympic Games on Sunday have been announced, with gold medal-winning archer Harvinder Singh and trailblazing sprinter Preeti Pal set to lead the nation.

Harvinder Singh, 33, made history as the first Indian archer to win a Paralympic gold, following his bronze medal at the Tokyo 2021 Games. Overwhelmed with pride, Harvinder expressed that carrying the nation's flag is the pinnacle of his achievements. "Winning gold for India has been a dream come true, and now leading our nation as a flag-bearer at the closing ceremony is the highest honour I could imagine," said Harvinder, who has faced physical impairment in both legs since childhood.

Preeti Pal, 23, created history by becoming the first Indian woman to win two medals at the Paralympics, securing bronze in the T35 100m and 200m races. Excited about the opportunity to represent India as a flag bearer, Preeti said, "This moment is not just about me; it's about every para-athlete who has pushed their limits to make our nation proud."

Satya Prakash Sangwan, the chef de mission of the Indian contingent, praised their achievements, stating, "Harvinder Singh's historic gold and Preeti Pal's stellar performance have made them true ambassadors of our nation's grit and determination. India's Paralympic contingent has delivered its best-ever performance at the Games, winning 26 medals, including six golds and nine silvers, marking a historic achievement for the nation.
