Xtra Time Web Desk: The opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics is just a few hours away. The ceremony will start at 11 PM Indian time on July 26. For the first time, the parade will take place on a river—the Seine River will host the entire event. Athletes will have to wait for five and a half hours for the 45-minute parade.

The entire opening ceremony is set to last for 7 hours and 40 minutes. Athletes will need to walk at least 940 meters from the Games Village entrance. Those at the far end of the Games Village will have to walk more than 2 kilometers. After this long walk, they will face a long wait. Organizers have stated that athletes will need to wait for approximately five and a half hours. They will be on boats in the river for only about 45 minutes.

The opening parade will feature 94 boats carrying nearly 7,000 competitors. Boats will leave one after another, requiring athletes to wait their turn. To ensure they do not face any issues during this time, provisions for food will be made. Athletes will be provided with fruits, dry snacks, water, and life jackets.

French President Emmanuel Macron has confirmed that she has already arrived in Paris. Approximately 500,000 spectators are expected to attend the opening ceremony.
