Xtra Time Web Desk: India's men started off disappointingly in shooting on the first day of the Olympics, failing to qualify. However, Manu Bhaker somewhat alleviated that disappointment. The Indian female shooter advanced to the finals in the women's 10m air pistol event. Bhaker finished third in the qualification round and will compete for a medal in the finals on Sunday.

Bhaker scored 580 in the qualification round, hitting the bullseye 27 times. Hungary's Veronika Major finished first with a score of 582, while Korea's Ye Jin Ho also scored 582 but finished second due to fewer bullseyes. Bhaker finished third, just short of the top two. She hit more bullseyes than anyone else in the qualification round.
