Xtra Time Web Desk: Arshad Nadeem’s wife, Ayesha, shared her nervousness while watching him compete in the men’s javelin final at the Paris Olympics. Her anxiety was replaced by elation as Arshad delivered a spectacular performance, clinching the gold medal with a remarkable throw of 92.97 meters at Stade de France.

Arshad not only secured the gold but also shattered the Olympic record previously held by Andreas Thorkildsen of Norway, who had thrown 90.57 meters in Beijing 2008. During the event, Ayesha revealed her constant prayers for her husband’s success. “I was tense, but I was also praying for him, asking the Almighty to make him successful and help him win the gold medal,” she said.

Arshad’s journey to victory wasn’t without its challenges. After a foul on his first attempt and a shaky start, he found his rhythm with his second throw, which propelled him to the top. His final throw of 91.79 meters cemented his position on the podium. Despite his success, Arshad expressed a desire to push beyond the 95-meter mark. “I hoped to throw even further, but I’m content with 92.97 meters as it earned me the gold. I’ll continue working hard to surpass 95 meters,” he stated, crediting his coach for his Olympic success.
