The Indian javelin star wrapped up his campaign with a second-place finish at the Diamond League final in Brussels on September 14, narrowly missing out on the top spot against Anderson Peters, with his best attempt of 87.86 meters.
The 26-year-old Indian star began his season at the Doha Diamond League, where his throw of 88.36m earned him second place, just 0.02m shy of Jakub Vadlejch’s winning mark. Neeraj then dominated at the Federation Cup in Bhubaneswar, claiming gold with a throw of 82.27m. This was followed by a stellar victory at the Paavo Nurmi Games in Turku, which set the stage for his preparation for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Despite a lingering groin injury, which caused him to skip events like the Ostrava Meet and the Paris Diamond League, Neeraj pushed through the discomfort. His impressive 89.45m throw at the Olympics earned him silver, with Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem taking gold.
Throughout the season, Neeraj’s resilience shone as he secured second place at the Lausanne Diamond League with a throw of 89.49m, placing him fourth overall in the standings. At the Diamond League final, Neeraj missed out on the top spot by a mere 0.01m, ending the year on a high note.
