Xtra Time Web Desk: India’s star javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra is set to compete in the Diamond League Final on Sunday, September 15, in Brussels. The 26-year-old will look to continue his impressive form, having won the event in 2022 and finishing second last year.

Chopra concluded the 2024 Diamond League season ranked fourth overall in the javelin standings, amassing 14 points from two events. He secured second place in both the Doha leg in May and the Lausanne leg in June. In Lausanne, Chopra delivered a remarkable throw of 89.49 meters, his season-best, surpassing the 89.45 meters he achieved at the Paris Olympics.

Grenada’s Anderson Peters topped the standings with 29 points, followed by Germany’s Julian Weber with 21 points. Defending champion Jakub Vadlejch from Czechia placed third with 16 points. Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem, the 2024 Olympic gold medallist, only participated in one Diamond League event this year and failed to qualify for the Brussels final.

As Chopra eyes breaking the 90-meter barrier, the Diamond League Final offers an ideal platform for the Indian javelin ace to showcase his prowess once again.
