Xtra Time Web Desk: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has unveiled the official anthem for the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2024, titled "Whatever It Takes."The high-energy track, now available for download and streaming on all major platforms, is a collaboration between the all-girl pop group W.i.S.H., renowned music director Mikey McCleary, composer Parth Parekh, and Bay Music House.

The song was released alongside an official music video that offers a cinematic preview of the tournament, showcasing highlight reels of iconic moments in women’s cricket. The choreography in the video emphasizes the excitement surrounding the ICC Women's T20 World Cup, positioning it as a must-watch event of the year.

“Whatever It Takes” is the anthem for the ninth edition of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup and aims to connect with a global audience, especially younger fans. The upbeat, modern pop sound of the track celebrates the empowerment of women in sport, amplified by W.i.S.H.'s youthful energy and McCleary's visionary production. The campaign slogan, "Whatever It Takes," reflects the dedication and determination of elite cricketers striving for excellence on the world stage.

ICC General Manager for Marketing and Communications, Claire Furlong, emphasized the significance of the anthem: “The ICC is committed to making the 2024 Women's T20 World Cup the ultimate stage for world-class players to shine. Women's cricket is firmly established on the global stage, and the official event song will further enhance its recognition. This soundtrack not only highlights the extraordinary talent we’ll see on the field but also aims to inspire the next generation of heroes in women's cricket."

Following the success of the 2023 tournament in South Africa, which attracted over 190 million global viewing hours—a 44% increase from the 2020 edition—the 2024 World Cup is poised to reach even greater heights. The tournament begins on October 3 at Sharjah Cricket Stadium in the UAE, with 10 participating nations battling for the trophy. The final will be held on October 20 at the Dubai International Stadium.

W.i.S.H. expressed their excitement about contributing to the global event: “We’re incredibly proud to have created the official event song for the ICC Women's T20 World Cup! As huge fans of Jemimah Rodrigues and Smriti Mandhana, we can’t wait to see them, along with other players, performing the hook step from our music video!”
