Xtra Time Web Desk: Former Indian captain Kris Srikkanth expressed confidence that both Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma could rediscover their form on the upcoming tour of Australia. Srikkanth, however, also hinted that if Rohit continues to struggle with the bat during the series, he might retire from Test cricket and focus solely on limited-overs formats. According to Srikkanth, Rohit, who has already stepped away from T20Is, could follow the same path with Tests if his performances don’t improve Down Under.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Srikkanth said, "If Rohit Sharma doesn't do well, I think he himself will retire from Test cricket. He will play only ODIs. He is also ageing." Srikkanth, however, lauded Rohit for acknowledging his poor form and said that this openness might be a key step toward recovery. "Hats off to Rohit Sharma for accepting the fact that he played badly throughout the series and captained badly. That’s the first move to get back to rhythm," he added.

Rohit and Kohli’s performances were under heavy scrutiny after India’s 0-3 whitewash at home against New Zealand. In the series, Kohli managed 93 runs, while Rohit scored 91. Despite the criticism, Srikkanth remains hopeful about Kohli's future, especially in Australia, where the star batter averages 54 with six hundreds.

Srikkanth also mentioned that India’s "Big Four" – Rohit, Kohli, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Ravindra Jadeja – might have played their last home Test together, suggesting a possible transition in the team’s core after the upcoming series in Australia. The BCCI is expected to review the futures of senior players following the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
