Head coach Gautam Gambhir voiced his confidence in Kohli's ability to deliver big performances in the New Zealand series and carry that momentum into the Australia tour. "He is as hungry as when he made his debut. That’s what makes him a world-class cricketer," Gambhir said, emphasizing Kohli's determination to excel and contribute to the team’s success in Test cricket.

So far in 2024, Kohli has played three Test matches but is yet to score a fifty. His outings against Bangladesh resulted in scores of 6, 17, 47, and an unbeaten 29. Notably, his quick 47 off 35 balls in the Kanpur Test helped India achieve record-breaking feats.

With eight Test matches lined up over the next three months, Kohli is aiming to regain his peak form, beginning with the series against New Zealand.
