Xtra Time Web Desk: India captain Rohit Sharma has once again expressed confidence in Yashasvi Jaiswal’s ability to become one of the top batters for the national team across all formats. Ahead of India’s first Test against New Zealand in Bengaluru, Rohit praised Jaiswal’s seamless transition from domestic cricket to the international arena, emphasizing the young batter’s hunger to continually improve.

Speaking to the press, Rohit noted that Jaiswal's early success in international cricket is no surprise given his immense talent and adaptability. "He’s still new to international cricket, so it’s hard to judge right now, but he’s got all the ingredients for success at this level," Rohit said. "It’s just about how he manages himself in the next couple of years. He’s already shown you can bet on him to do wonders for the team."

At just 22 years old, Jaiswal has already made a significant mark in Test cricket. He recently became the second-fastest Indian to reach 1,000 Test runs, accomplishing the feat in 16 innings. He has scored 1,217 runs in 11 Tests, boasting an impressive average of 64.05. Additionally, Jaiswal has been solid in T20Is, accumulating 723 runs across 23 matches, including a hundred and five fifties.

Jaiswal’s standout performance came earlier this year during the home series against England, where he broke Sunil Gavaskar’s record for the most runs by an Indian in a bilateral Test series, scoring 712 runs in five matches.

Rohit also praised Jaiswal’s attitude and dedication, saying, "He’s someone who is eager to learn and master his game. We’ve found a great player in him."

The successful opening partnership between Rohit and Jaiswal, which has already produced 1,082 runs in 20 innings, will be key as India takes on New Zealand in a three-match Test series, followed by a crucial tour of Australia.
