Xtra Time Web Desk: In a surprising twist during the ongoing T20I series between India and Bangladesh, Harshit Rana’s much-anticipated debut has been delayed, much to the disappointment of fans and cricket pundits. Former cricketer Aakash Chopra, expressed his dismay at Rana being overlooked during India’s seven-wicket win in the first T20I in Gwalior. While debut caps were handed to Mayank Yadav and Nitish Kumar Reddy, Rana’s wait for his international debut continues.

Rana, who has been a consistent part of the Indian squad in recent T20I series against Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka, had high hopes of making his debut in the series against Bangladesh. However, Team India’s management decided to hold off on his debut, possibly extending it to the remaining two matches.

Reacting to this, Chopra voiced his concerns on his YouTube channel, highlighting that Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and its fans might benefit if Rana remains an uncapped player ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction. The former Indian opener suggested that if Rana doesn’t debut soon, KKR could retain him as an uncapped player, making him an asset for the franchise.

Chopra also questioned the decision of captain Suryakumar Yadav and head coach Gautam Gambhir to exclude Rana while giving opportunities to both Mayank and Reddy. Despite Rana’s absence, Chopra praised Mayank Yadav for his impressive figures of 1/21 on debut, while Reddy contributed with 16 runs off 15 balls. Rana may still make his debut in the second T20I in Delhi, offering fans hope of finally seeing the young pacer in action.
