Xtra Time Web Desk: Chennai Super Kings players took a lap of honour at the MA Chidambaram Stadium after their last home league game of the ongoing IPL 2024.

The defending champions thrashed Rajasthan Royals by five wickets to end the league stage at home in style. Rajasthan Royals won the toss and opted to bat first. However, they failed to justify the decision as their batters struggled to get going on a slow pitch.

After the game, Mahendra Singh Dhoni and other CSK players took a lap of honour in front of the jam-packed stands. The fans were then taken on a nostalgia trip as former CSK star Suresh Raina joined with ‘Captain Cool’ and the rest of the players during the lap of honour.

MS Dhoni embraced his former India and IPL teammate and welcomed him to join the lap of honour. Not only that, the former CSK skipper also handed Raina the tennis racquet that he was using to hit some signed balls into the stands and asked his ex-teammate to gift the balls to the fans. The fans were absolutely delighted to see the reunion between 'Thala' and 'Chinna Thala'.

Meanwhile, CSK have kept their playoffs hopes alive with the much-needed victory. They are currently at the third spot in the points table with seven wins from 13 games. A win in their final game will all but seal their passage to the next stage. CSK will be taking on Royal Challengers Bengaluru in their final league game.

Incidentally, CSK had played against RCB in the tournament opener as well and had won that game comfortably. The reigning champions will be hoping to complete a double over RCB as they look to become the first team to win the IPL six times.
