Xtra Times Web Desk: The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) has taken the first step by officially submitting the Letter of Intent to the Future Host Commission of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) on October 1 expressing India's interest in hosting the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2036.

Keeping the sporting culture of India in mind, Prime minister Narendra Modi has expressed his desire to host Olympic and Paralympics in India. A source stated, "This monumental opportunity could bring substantial benefits, fostering economic growth, social progress, and youth empowerment across the country."

During the Independence Day celebrations at his New Delhi residence, he had a chat with Indian athletes who participated in the Paris Olympics. He invited feedbacks from athletes as he believes their feedback will be the pillars for arranging this grand event.

PM Modi mentioned in that gathering, "India is preparing to host the 2036 Olympics. In this regard, the input from athletes who have played in previous Olympics is very important. You all must have observed and experienced many things. We want to document this and share it with the government so that we don't miss out on any small details in the preparation for 2036."

Earlier at the IOC's 141st session in Mumbai last year, PM Modi said, "We will leave no stone unturned in our efforts to organize the Olympics on Indian soil in the year 2036. This is the age-old dream and aspiration of 140 crore Indians." IOC President Thomas Bach has left a edge of hope with his "strong case for India to host the Olympics" remark.

Hosting Olympics will just not boost the sporting culture of India but also strengthen India's tourism and economy. India now stands as the ninth country having Mexico, Indonesia, Turkey, Poland, Egypt, and South Korea in list. 

Will India get the opportunity to host Olympics and Paralympics in 2036! If selected, it will be a dream come true moment for 140 crore Indians.
