Earlier the 26-year-old even lost his central contract after reportedly not playing domestic cricket according to board directives. However, he has been trying hard in domestic cricket to make a comeback into the Indian team scoring a breathtaking knock of 134 (78) against Manipur in the Vijay Hazare Trophy helping his team chase down 254 in just 28.3 overs.
In the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024-25, he scored 161 runs from six innings at an average of 32.20 and a strike rate of 167.70 with one half-century. In the 32 T20I matches played in his career so far, Kishan has scored 796 runs at an average of 25.67 and a strike rate of 124.37 with six half-centuries.
Even after all these, Ishan Kishan remains sidelined without any official declaration. Cricket fans on twitter found questioning for picking Dhruv Jurel as the second wicketkpeeing option who replaced Jitesh Sharma in the team. Jurel has played two T20Is in his career so far and has scored six runs.
