Xtra Time Web Desk: Team India introduced two debutants in the first T20I against Bangladesh, played on Sunday, October 6, at the New Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Stadium in Gwalior. Fast-bowler Mayank Yadav and all-rounder Nitish Reddy made their international debuts, stepping onto the field in Indian colors for the first time.

Mayank Yadav earned his call-up after a standout performance in IPL 2024, where his 150kph-plus deliveries grabbed attention. The speedster, who clocked a 155kph delivery and won Player of the Match in his first two IPL games, had his campaign cut short by an abdominal injury. Despite not playing any competitive matches since then, the selectors placed their trust in him for the three-match series against Bangladesh.

All-rounder Nitish Reddy, who was initially called up for India’s tour of Zimbabwe earlier this year, did not feature in any games during that series. Though his performance in the Duleep Trophy was not headline-worthy, Reddy now gets his chance to prove himself on the international stage.

Before the game, Mayank Yadav received his debut cap from former cricketer Murali Kartik, while Nitish Reddy’s cap was presented by Parthiv Patel.

India captain Suryakumar Yadav won the toss and chose to bowl first, commenting, "We'll look to bowl first. Looks humid, don't think the pitch will change much. There's a lot of talent involved in the group. Looks beautiful, lovely crowd, excited to play here."

India comes into this series after a successful 3-0 T20I sweep against Sri Lanka and a dominating two-match Test series victory over Bangladesh.
