Xtra Time Web Desk: Pakistan’s crushing defeat against India in the high-voltage Champions Trophy 2025 league match has triggered a storm among fans, supporters, and media, with some resorting to bizarre allegations. A viral Pakistani TV debate has sparked controversy after a panellist claimed that India deployed 22 Hindu priests (pandits) at the Dubai International Stadium to perform “black magic” to distract the Pakistani players. Another panellist further alleged that India refuses to play in Pakistan because their 'priests' would not be allowed. The discussion also claimed that seven priests visited the ground a day before the match to conduct rituals. The video has gone viral on social media, drawing widespread ridicule from cricket fans.

India, riding on Virat Kohli’s 51st ODI century, outclassed Pakistan with a six-wicket win on Sunday, sealing a spot in the Champions Trophy semifinals. Pakistan was bundled out for 241, while India comfortably chased down the target in 42.3 overs. With this victory, Kohli made history by becoming the fastest batter to reach 14,000 runs in One-Day Internationals, surpassing the legendary Sachin Tendulkar.

ICC Champions Trophy 2025: Shikhar Dhawan joins Indian team’s dressing room after Pakistan win! Watch

This is not the first time the Pakistani media has blamed supernatural forces for their team’s loss. During the 2023 ICC World Cup, Pakistani journalist Hareem Shah had claimed that then BCCI Secretary Jay Shah hired a tantrik (occult practitioner) named Karthik Chakraborty to perform “black magic” on the Pakistan team before their match in Ahmedabad. India had convincingly won that game by seven wickets.

Following the defeat, Pakistani fans expressed deep disappointment, with some even supporting India over their own team. Many in Islamabad criticized the Pakistan team for lacking effort, fitness, and skill. Speaking to reporters, a disheartened fan said, “They (Pakistan team) don’t have the required effort, fitness, or skills, which is why we supported India today.” Another fan admitted that Kohli’s return to form was expected against Pakistan. “Virat Kohli was out of form last year, but we knew he would regain it once he faced Pakistan and scored a century,” he said.
