Xtra Time Web Desk: Bhaichung Bhutia Football School (BBFS), India’s largest football academy, has announced a significant partnership with English Premier League (EPL) side Southampton Football Club (SFC). The collaboration aims to enhance grassroots football coaching and player development in India by incorporating Southampton’s renowned coaching philosophies and tactics.

Under this agreement, BBFS becomes the International Academy Partner (IAP) of Southampton, granting it exclusive access to the SFC Academy Performance Plan for players between ‘Under 6’ - ‘Under 16’. This includes coaching strategies, online resources, and tailored development programs. The partnership also offers players the opportunity to attend camps and tournaments in both India and England, further enriching their experiences.

Southampton FC's academy is globally respected for producing elite football talent. Notable graduates include Gareth Bale, Theo Walcott, James Ward-Prowse, and Adam Lallana, among others. This partnership will allow BBFS to integrate similar training programs to elevate Indian football.

A major focus of the collaboration will be on training Indian coaches to meet international standards. BBFS, which trains over 2,000 coaches annually, will work closely with Southampton to implement a comprehensive coaching curriculum tailored to Indian football’s specific needs. The SFC will provide session plans, workshops, and remote learning to support this initiative.

Southampton’s digital platforms, such as “The Boot Room” and “Grow Your Game Hub,” will also be made available to BBFS, giving Indian coaches access to a wealth of knowledge. Furthermore, the partnership will involve appearances by SFC first-team players and ambassadors to promote grassroots football in India.
