Xtra Time Web Desk: Cristiano Ronaldo achieved a historic milestone on Thursday, 5th September, scoring his 900th career goal in Portugal’s 2-1 win over Croatia in their Nations League opener. Portugal took an early lead in the 7th minute through Diogo Dalot, though the defender later scored an own goal.

Ronaldo ended his five-game goal drought for Portugal by netting in the 34th minute. Nuno Mendes delivered a perfect cross, and the unmarked 39-year-old tapped in from close range to extend the lead to 2-0. Visibly emotional after scoring, Ronaldo celebrated reaching yet another career landmark.

Ronaldo now has 131 international goals, in addition to his 450 for Real Madrid, 145 for Manchester United, 101 for Juventus, 68 for Al Nassr, and five for Sporting Lisbon. His rival Lionel Messi is second on the all-time goal-scoring list with 859 goals.
