Xtra Time Web Desk: In the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024, India’s bowling coach, Paras Mhambrey, has praised star openers Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli for their aggressive intent. During the Super 8 fixture against Bangladesh, the dynamic duo delivered a powerful start, amassing 39 runs for the first wicket in just 22 balls. Rohit Sharma shone brightly with a swift 23 off 11 balls, featuring three boundaries and a six. Meanwhile, Virat Kohli registered his highest score of the tournament so far, contributing 37 off 28 balls with a four and three sixes.

Rohit, the Indian skipper, quickly found his rhythm, hitting back-to-back boundaries early in his innings. Kohli, equally impressive, sent Shakib al Hasan for a maximum after just three balls at the crease.

Praising Kohli’s aggressive approach, Mhambrey mentioned, “The intent that Virat has shown is heartening. This is the batting template we want, something we've emphasized on throughout the previous and current World Cup.” Despite a rocky start in the tournament, where Kohli scored just 66 runs from five innings, the prolific batter has shown signs of a comeback with recent contributions of 24 (24) and 37 (28) against Afghanistan and Bangladesh, respectively. As the most prolific batter in the history of the T20 World Cup and a two-time Player of the Tournament winner, Kohli aims to deliver a significant performance in the upcoming clash against Australia, helping India secure their place in the tournament.
