Just an hour after being fined 50 percent of his match fee for dissent toward the umpire's decision, Kohli expressed his dissatisfaction over his dismissal off a waist-high full-toss. The incident sparked a storm of reactions, notably when Kohli liked an Instagram post from Mohammad Kaif criticizing the umpiring standards in the ongoing IPL season.

Kaif, who has now spoken out three times about the issue, highlighted the inconsistency in umpiring decisions, citing instances like a clear beamer getting Kohli out while a ball passing under Dhoni's bat was declared wide. The frustration was palpable as Kohli's reaction, captured in screenshots, revealed his dismay with the decision. Kohli's dismissal, caught and bowled by Harshit Rana, incited further controversy as he vehemently contested the decision, even resorting to smashing a trash can in frustration on his way to the dugout.
Despite Kohli's efforts to seek recourse through the review system, the decision remained unchanged due to technicalities. Each replay of the dismissal only deepened Kohli's disappointment, evident from his expressions captured on the giant screen.
