Shahbaz Nadeem during his Press conference.

XtraTime Web Desk - A lot of fans raised an eyebrow when Shahbaz Nadeem was picked ahead of Kuldeep Yadav in the first test against England. On Saturday, after picking the wickets of Joe Root and Ben Stokes, Nadeem tried to justify his selection.

In the press conference after day 2, Nadeem was asked about his plans going into the day 2 of the match to which he said, “In this wicket, we can only plan to bowl in the correct places. If we would've planned to take wickets then we would've given more runs. Thus the plan was to bowl in the right areas and if any batsmen goes for a shot, then there will be a possibility for a wicket”.

India bowled a total of 19 no balls in the first innings so far. A lot considering the fact that even spinners like Ravi Ashwin and Nadeem bowled quite a few. Regarding his no balls, Nadeem said, “I think I was jumping a bit late. I need to jump close to the crease but I feel I'm not able to jump properly. I need to work that out on the nets”.

Nadeem also believes that just like the English batsmen, Indian players will also do good once they come out to bat. “The game plan for tomorrow is to bowl them out as soon as possible”. He added, “The pitch is very good for batting. I'm sure our batsmen will also score a lot of runs. You can see that”.
