Xtra Time Web Desk : Do you know Kolkata Knight Rider’s Rinku Singh once had to sweep floors to earn a living for his family? The 24-year-old batter from UP, who got his first opportunity to play in this edition of IPL against Gujarat Titans on Wednesday, had to do a sweeper’s job to meet the family’s need.

The cricketer from Aligarh had to face immense hardships while growing up. Rinku’s father used to deliver LPG cylinders to the doorsteps of the customers. His family was in a debt of 5 lakhs. Rinku stayed with his parents and four siblings in the gas agency’s storage room.

For Knight Riders fan’s Rinku Singh is a household name as he has been with the Purple camp for last 4 seasons. The KKR management re-brought him in the mega auctions held in February for INR 80 lakhs. Rinku impressed in his first match for the Knights this season with a free flowing 28 ball 35 runs and also took four catches in the match against Gujarat Titans. The impressive show against GT can see him getting more opportunities for the Knights.

Rinku always loved playing cricket from his childhood days. He had to meet immense challenges but he never got disheartened. Initially he wasn't getting any success. His brother got him a sweeper and cleaner job in order to meet his family’s needs.

Rinku first impressed at the age of 16 when he top-scored with 83 in a U19 match for his state side. He went on to make his first-class debut for Uttar Pradesh in the 2016–17 Ranji Trophy in November 2016. Let’s hope Rinku Singh can get more success in his career ahead.
