IPL 2024: Sunil Gavaskar backs Riyan Parag for maiden India call-up
Xtra Time Web Desk: Sunil Gavaskar praised Riyan Parag's outstanding performance with the bat so far in IPL 2024, suggesting that an India call-up could be on the horizon for the talented 22-year-old from Assam. Parag's impressive form, including his third fifty of the season, has caught Gavaskar's attention.
Despite previous struggles in the IPL, Parag's recent success, highlighted by three fifties in five matches, signals a significant turnaround. Gavaskar commended Parag's ability to capitalize on opportunities, referencing his explosive innings against Gujarat, where he capitalized on two dropped catches to score 76 off 48 balls.

"Not just in the IPL, but right through the season, he has had enormous success. He is someone that the selection committee has got an eye on. And so, all he needs to do is keep on batting the way he has been. His fielding, we all know about it, he is an excellent fielder. And he can bowl a few of those dribbly-dobblies, I call them mixed pakodas," Gavaskar said.
Despite Rajasthan's loss to Gujarat Titans on 10th April, Parag's stellar batting performance, along with his fielding prowess and occasional bowling, has earned him recognition from the selection committee.
