IPL 2024: RCB’s struggle continues in IPL 2024 despite rebranding efforts
Xtra Time Web Desk: In the IPL 2024, Royal Challengers Bangalore finds itself emersed in disappointment once again. Despite rebranding from Bangalore to Bengaluru, swapping their signature black for blue, and hoping for a change of fortune, the team’s struggles persist. With only one win in seven games, they teeter on the brink of elimination halfway through the tournament.
While mathematical possibilities of a playoff berth still exist, the odds appear daunting. Faf du Plessis' leadership must rally the team to win six of their remaining seven matches, a feat even the most ardent fans find hard to imagine. The franchise’s underwhelming performance has drawn criticism from unexpected quarters, with legendary tennis player Mahesh Bhupathi advocating for a change in ownership to rejuvenate the team's fortunes.

"For the sake of the Sport, the IPL, the fans and even the players I think BCCI needs to enforce the sale of RCB to a new owner who will care to build a sports franchise the way most of the other teams have done so," Bhupathi wrote on X.
Meanwhile, in a recent clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad, Travis Head’s explosive century and Heinrich Klaasen's blitz propelled Sunrisers to a monumental 287/3, setting a new record for the highest total in IPL history. Despite valiant efforts from du Plessis and Dinesh Karthik, RCB fell short, succumbing to a 25-run defeat.
