Xtra Time Web Desk: Kolkata Knight Riders registered a comfortable 7-wicket win over Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in match 10 of IPL 2024. KKR extend their winning run in this season with two consecutive wins. Kolkata Knight Riders won the toss and elected to field first. The stage was set for a captivating encounter, not just on the field but also in the backdrop of off-field narratives, the rivalry between Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir.

Winning captain Shreyas Iyer during his post match speech said: “Coming here, we were in good shape between games. Coming here and hitting few balls made us feel comfortable. Russell showed slower ones are good here and the way he executed them were easy to see. From there on, rest of the bowlers picked up on that and made that their plans. Communication was brilliant.”

When asked about Sunil Narine he said, “See Narine when he comes in, he has one job that is to clear the outfield and get maximum runs. Today was a phenomenal example. We were contemplating today whether to open with him or not, but this was great.”

“From one end, it was pretty good to bat on. From the other end, it was two-paced. It was bouncing extra. That was the communication we were having and passing it on to the batter coming next. We are spending a day here tomorrow and then going to Vizag. Have to see the nature of the pitch there. Not expecting much. Season has just started and we have just two wins so far. We need to embrace this and enjoy each others' successes," he added.

Batting first, RCB was restricted to 183 runs with significant contribution mostly coming from Virat Kohli. Kohli scored his 51st half century in T20s. Although contributions came from all the KKR batters while they batted. A collective performance from Phil Salt (30), Sunil Narine (47), Venkatesh Iyer (50) and Shreyas Iyer (39) to clinch victory.
