IPL 2024: Dhoni's future in IPL sparks speculation, here’s what Raina has to say
Xtra Time Web Desk: In the midst of the high-voltage action of IPL 2024, the retirement saga surrounding cricket legend Mahendra Singh Dhoni has emerged as one of the most hotly debated topics. Dhoni, the former skipper of Chennai Super Kings, continues to dazzle fans with his exemplary performances as a finisher, but worries loom large over his knee condition, which underwent surgery last year.
Speculations are high that this season might mark the finale for the iconic cricketer, but his ex-CSK teammate, Suresh Raina, has strongly dismissed such rumours. In a recent interaction captured by Jio Cinema's official ‘X’ account, Raina confidently asserted, "khelenge" (he will play), indicating Dhoni's intent to grace the IPL stage for at least another season with the yellow brigade.

The concern over Dhoni's knee flared up after he was spotted limping post the MI vs CSK showdown. Despite smashing Hardik Pandya for a hat-trick of sixes in a sensational display of power-hitting, Dhoni's visible discomfort while walking has left fans on edge. Eric Simmons, CSK's bowling consultant, lauded Dhoni as one of the toughest individuals he has encountered, noting his remarkable ability to soldier on despite physical discomfort.
Simmons remarked, "Everyone else is more interested in his injuries than he is. He's one of the hardest men I've ever come across. I don't even think we know to what extent he may or may not be in pain. He just carries on and does his thing." Acknowledging public concerns, Simmons emphasized that while there might be some niggles, Dhoni possesses an unparalleled resilience to soldier through adversities, leaving the public more worried about his well-being than he himself is.
