Xtra Time Web Desk: Lucknow pacer Mayank Yadav showcased his remarkable talent in a sensational display of fast bowling during an IPL 2024 match at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Yadav not only shattered his own record by bowling the fastest ball of the season at 156.7 km/h but also played a pivotal role in guiding LSG to a comfortable 28-run victory over RCB

Yadav's standout moment came when he dismissed Australia all-rounder Cameron Green, whom he termed as a special wicket for him since he enjoys cleaning up batters. In addition to Green, Yadav also scalped the wickets of Glenn Maxwell and Rajat Patidar, effectively dismantling Bengaluru's middle order.

The 21-year-old speedster has made a dream start in IPL 2024, earning the 'Player of the Match' award in both games he has played so far this season. His exceptional bowling performance, coupled with his ability to consistently trouble opposition batsmen, has marked him as a rising star in the cricketing world.

“Green's wicket was special because I personally like just like one kind of wicket, which is bowling people out, like any fast bowler. That over was a bit aggressive because I'd picked a wicket in the previous over. The captain also told me to attack a bit and use the bouncer with my pace,” said Yadav.

Mayank credited Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) head coach Andy Flower for providing invaluable support during challenging times over the past two years. Yadav emphasized Flower's role in helping him manage pressure situations, which has evidently contributed to his stellar performances in IPL 2024.

“Andy has supported me a lot in the last two years. I was under a lot of pressure in the first year, so he calmed me down a bit by teaching me things. So, Andy has helped me a lot,” said Yadav.

“No extra training, I just do things that make me quicker and stronger. This was the first time I played on this ground. I'd heard that 180 is easily chasable on this ground but our plan was to keep bowling at the stumps and not give the batters any room,” Yadav added.

Following their win over RCB, Lucknow will turn their focus towards last year’s finalists Gujarat Titans, with the two sides set to clash on Sunday, April 7.
