XtraTime Web Desk: Chennai Super Kings inspirational captain MS Dhoni was in a new look for the opening encounter against Mumbai Indians in the 13th edition of Indian Premier League (IPL 2020) on Saturday. Dhoni was spotted with a new style of beard which caught the eyes of everyone. The CSK skipper took everyone by surprise after he decided to trim down his beard and wear a half-beard look for the IPL 2020.

Netizens feel the new style of Dhoni is inspired from his second favourite Tamil actor Surya after Rajnikanth. The former India captain has gone on record to say that he was quite impressed with the versatile actor in Tamil films and has even watched the Tamil version of Singam in which he acted.
”Surya is one of my favourite. When I saw Singam first personally someone told me that I should see the Tamil version as well. It was even better. So, once I was on an international flight I actually watched the Tamil version as well with the subtitles. I just love his acting. I also had a chance of meeting him in Mumbai as well,” said Dhoni in an interview few years back.

The former Indian cricketer made a successful return to competitive cricket as Chennai Super Kings pulled off a sensational five wickets win over Mumbai Indians in the first match of IPL 2020 at the Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. The CSK captain made a comeback to cricket field after 437 days since India’s 2019 World Cup exit, which was followed by his international cricket retirement last month on August 15.

Dhoni, who has often set the trend with his hairdo in the past, took social media on fire with the new beard as fans quickly started discussing it. Earlier before flying to the UAE, Dhoni's new lockdown look had drawn much attention on social media. The former India captain had trimmed his hair and also shaved his black beard.
