Scotland had beaten Pakistan by the same margin in another group A match prior to this. India did not lose a single game as they demolished arch-rivals Pakistan. Any sporting event involving India and Pakistan always draws major attention. This time, India went past Pakistan with ease. The Indian badminton players were always a level above their opponents. India got off to a winning start by winning the first game 21-10 in the mixed doubles category. India increases lead to 2-0 as Srikanth wins the men’s single 21-16 and 22-20. Saina Nehwal goes on to increase the lead to 3-0 by dominating her opponent to a 21-7 and 21-11 victory. It was already a victory for India, but India did not stop there. Pranav Chopra and Chirag Chandrashekhar Shetty the men’s double duo of India won the match 21-9 and 21-15 to give India an unassailable 4-0 lead. The Cherry on the cake was the last match, the women’s doubles where Ashwini Ponnappa and Ruthvika Gadde defeated their Pakistani counterparts 21-6 and 21-10 to complete a total whitewash of the opponents.
