BGT 2024-25: Virat Kohli walks back to dressing room, find how crowd booed him!
Xtra Time Web Desk: Virat Kohli's poor form continues! The star batter once again failed to make an impact as he edged the ball to the slip cordon on Day 1 of the final Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Friday, January 3.
Kohli was nearly dismissed off the very first ball of his innings when he edged a Scott Boland delivery to Steve Smith at second slip. However, luck favored him momentarily as Smith failed to complete the catch, with the ball bouncing out and floating up for Marnus Labuschagne at gully. Kohli managed to survive and played a laborious knock of 17 runs off 69 balls before falling to another edge outside the off-stump.

This marked the sixth time in the series that Kohli has been dismissed by edging deliveries outside off-stump. Known as one of the greatest batters of all time, Kohli’s repeated mistakes have left fans frustrated. His series scores so far—5, 100*, 7, 11, 3, 36, 5, and now 17—paint a grim picture, failing to align with the lofty standards he has set throughout his career. Notably, the only time Kohli avoided edging the ball in this series was during his unbeaten century in the second innings at Perth.
Kohli’s walk back to the dressing room at SCG was accompanied by boos from the crowd, a continuation of the hostile reception he has faced during the series. The relationship between Kohli and the Australian crowd has been tumultuous, marked by taunts and controversies. The tension escalated after his bump into Sam Konstas during the first innings of the Melbourne Test, when the young Australian batter faced Jasprit Bumrah in the Boxing Day Test.
