BGT 2024-25: Here’s India's test records at Gabba, can India repeat the 2021 magic?
Xtra Time Web Desk: After a crushing 10-wicket loss in the pink-ball Test at Adelaide Oval, Team India faces a stern challenge as they gear up for the third Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 at the Gabba in Brisbane. The match is set to begin on Saturday, December 14, at 5:50 AM IST.
Australia will come into the Test with momentum, having leveled the series 1-1 with a dominant win in Adelaide. Known as a fortress for the Australian men’s cricket team, the Gabba has historically been one of their strongest venues, where they feel most at home.

However, India can draw confidence from their recent history at the Gabba. Despite their underwhelming overall record at the venue — five losses, one draw, and a single victory in seven Tests — their solitary win came in spectacular fashion during their last visit in January 2021. Under Ajinkya Rahane’s leadership, India achieved a thrilling three-wicket win, breaching the fortress and clinching the series 2-1.
India's History at the Gabba: Mixed Fortunes
India's association with the Gabba began in 1947 when a Lala Amarnath-led side suffered a crushing defeat by an innings and 226 runs against Sir Donald Bradman’s Australia. Over the decades, India endured close contests but rarely managed to come out on top.
