Xtra Time Web Desk: As per the report, Gautam Gambhir raised the allegations during a high-level review meeting held at the BCCI headquarters in Mumbai, which was attended by captain Rohit Sharma, chief selector Ajit Agarkar, and BCCI stakeholders. Gambhir reportedly accused Sarfaraz, who did not feature in any of the five Tests, of leaking details of his dressing room rant after India's Boxing Day Test defeat.

The report further claims that BCCI officials are displeased with Sarfaraz, with speculation suggesting he might not play for India as long as Gambhir remains head coach. However, the report also mentions that Gambhir has yet to provide concrete evidence supporting his accusations.

Neither Gambhir nor Sarfaraz has issued an official response to the allegations so far.

India’s coaching and leadership under scrutiny

The allegations come amid growing pressure on Gambhir following India's poor performance in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, their first home series loss to Australia since 2014-15. Speculation is rife that Gambhir’s position as head coach may be reconsidered after the Champions Trophy later this year.

India’s senior players, including captain Rohit Sharma and veteran batter Virat Kohli, are also under the scanner for their underwhelming performances. Both players have been advised to participate in domestic cricket to regain form ahead of the Champions Trophy. While Rohit has committed to playing for Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy, Kohli has yet to make his intentions clear.
